Backstage

19 May

When I was a ballet dancer I used to love theatre rehearsals and being on stage.

The lights, the smell and all the fuss and stage fright backstage.

Last time I went to Paris I had the great opportunity to share this moment with a theatre group right before their big moment.

There is something fascinating about actors getting ready. There is that calm fuzziness that´s gets you too and sometimes there´s something very melancholic about it.

Jardin des Plantes

7 May

It has been a while since having a few days off of uni and work. It feels nice to actually have time to relax, to walk around and discover that spring has even arrived in Paris at the Jardin des Plantes.

My new toy: Canon G15

28 Apr

It is common knowledge that I s**k at taking pictures.

Especially when it comes to capturing the light (or the absence of it).

And if there is something you can´t do, you get yourself a toy that can: a canon G15!!!

So obviously I had to take a stroll around town today to see what my new toy can do ;-)

Going Green (Juice)

26 Apr

After being sick for three weeks in a row, I decided I had to boost my immune system and that it was about time I had some vitamins in my system. So I got myself a new toy  (juicer) ;-)

green juice

By now I am addicted to juicing and I couldn´t leave my house in the morning without my freshly juiced green in my bag.

I feel so much better and have all that energy and funnily enough it changed my whole way of nourishing me. Suddenly I have cravings for avocado salad, fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, sage risottos, crunchy broccoli etc…  (recipes to come)

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Romano salad
  • Celery
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 cucumber
  • A few white grapes
  • ginger
  • Maca and/or guarana and/or spirulina

oil pulling

19 Apr

Recently I have been asked a lot about oil pulling, so I might as well sum it up in a post.  ;-)

oil-on-spoon

First time I ever heard of oil pulling was last year when a friend of mine stayed over at mine´s for a few month. She would walk into the kitchen every morning, just nodding at me because obviously her mouth was full. She explained to me that it was an ancient Indian remedy, supposed to take in all the toxins of your body and making you healthier.  Having a beautiful and radiant skin was only the side effect. Well, looking at her gorgeous skin, she is 36 and has the skin of a 16 year old, was enough convincing to start oil pulling myself.  By now, not only has my skin improved, but my teeth have become whiter and my gum turned a healthy pink.

How does it work?

  • In the morning and on an empty stomach and before even drinking one sip of water, scrape your tongue with a spoon
  • Take a spoon full of organic virgin sesame oil (you can also use coconut or sunflower oil)
  • Let it circulate in your mouth, suck and push it through your teeth but NEVER swallow it, as it takes in all the toxins in  your mouth
  • If you want to do it for more than 5 minutes, change the oil in your mouth
  • When you are done, spit the wasted oil (by now it´s supped to be thinner and white) into the toilet, then rinse your mouth thoroughly and brush your teeth.

What are the benefits of oil pulling?

  • Prevents diseases
  • Fights acne and eczema
  • Brighter white teeth and healthy gum
  • Clearer sinuses (apparently, haven´t noticed that one…)
  • Cleaner and glowing skin
  • An overall detoxifying effect (your liver and kidneys will thank you)

Please try it and let me know what you think.

PS: Don´t expect an immediate result, my skin started getting better after 3 weeks of oil pulling (every day).

My little garden

17 Apr

It´s official: it´s spring!

And with spring comes my need to eat delicious light and homemade food.

So it seemed quite obvious to create my own little garden (on my balcony): tomatoes, sage and basil…

Can´t wait for the tomatoes to grow.

Milano

15 Apr

Italy the land of food, cappuccino, architecture and dolce vita.

Milan, the city of fashion, design and shoes.

Every time I go to Italy, I feel like I am a completely different person. I feel more relaxed and even though I spend most of my day eating, I always feel light and up for adventure. I could spend days sitting on the terrace of a little café, drinking freshly pressed juice “spremuta” and watch all those fashionable people walk by.

I actually want to ride a Vespa and end up bathing in a fountain…

Eye youth roll on and Energizing face mist

12 Apr

Making my own beauty products has started to become a real obsession, and every time it gets better and more effective.

DIY

For the “Eye youth roll on” you need an empty roll on bottle and… wheat germ oil.  Yep, it´s that simple and soooooo effective against wrinkles even the ones that come from laughing and not from aging.  ;-)

For the “Energizing face mist” you need:

  • 20g of apricot oil (organic obviously)
  • 15g of aloe gel
  • 40ml of water
  • 20 drops of algae youth concentrate
  • 15 drops of conservatives (organic as well)
  • 1g of Emulsan

Here it goes:

In a water bath, warm up the apricot oil and the Emulsan until the Emulsan is fully melted and the oil reaches a temperature of 70°C. War um the water then pour the water into the oil mix while whisking it with a cappuccino whisk. Then start adding the aloe and ones it starts to become a homogenous milky liquid you can add the conservatives and the algae youth concentrate. Fill in a spray bottle and tadaaaaaaa: Hello fresh faced you!

Enjoy!

PS: I can´t wait to get my new camera!!!

Ready for Easter

27 Mar

What I love most about Holidays is the fact that you can decorate your home in order to welcome a special day.

In Austria you find can find so many things, colours and details to decorate your easter eggs and it is great fun to make an arts & craft day with your friends an family.

Let´s just say that some are very gifted and others are not ;-)
